There are parallels in how Enclosure privatized Common land (to make them more profitable) with what is happening in education - despite the Internet making it possible to have near-free dissemination of information, much of our collective accumulated wisdom is enclosed behind pay walls - because it is more profitable to the minority that holds power.

And this practice is legalized by means of copyright laws, just like Enclosure was legalized by Acts of parliament.

We celebrate certain specific examples of Commoning - the Polio vaccine, Wikipedia, open source code - why not make it commonplace in education?
